One of the main figures of the Second Generation of Romantic poets, along with Lord Byron and Percy Bysshe Shelley. His poetry is characterised by sensual imagery, most notably in the series of odes. Some of his most acclaimed works are Hyperion, The Eve of Saint Agnes, La belle dame sans merci and the numerous odes such as Ode to a Nightingale, all composed in a very short period of time.
